# Every Hero Needs Rest

Your hero now has a limit, and we would rather explain it than let you discover it in the middle of something.

Every character carries a reserve of energy. Walking a road spends a point. Striking a blow spends a point. Asking Grim what he knows about the man who came in on the evening tide spends a point. When the reserve empties, the realm asks you to come back later — and it means later in your world, not in the one your hero is standing in.

## Why There Is a Limit At All

Because nothing an NPC says to you was written in advance.

When you ask a question in a tavern, the answer is composed there and then, by someone who knows who you are, what you have done, and how they feel about you after the last three conversations. That is the thing this game is actually for, and it is also the one part of it that costs real resources every single time it happens. A limit is what lets us keep that for everybody instead of quietly making the tavern keeper dumber.

So the reserve is not there to slow you down. It is there so the interesting thing stays interesting.

## How It Comes Back

On its own, steadily, against real time. Close the tab, sleep, go to work — you will find the reserve fuller than you left it. There is nothing to claim and no button to press.

One detail worth knowing, because it is the opposite of what most people assume: a bigger reserve does not take longer to fill. Empty to full is the same wait whether your hero is level one or level thirty. Levelling up gives you more room, not more waiting — the points simply arrive faster to fill the larger space.

## Patrons

Those who support the realm carry a deeper reserve and refill several times faster. That is the honest shape of it: the thing that costs us money is the thing patrons get more of.

Everyone else still gets a full reserve every day, which is enough for a long session.

## What You Will See

There is a small row under the location header showing what you have left and a countdown to the next point. It ticks down live, and when it reaches zero it quietly fetches the truth from the realm rather than guessing.

There are also flasks. They restore energy directly, they turn up as loot and on shop counters like anything else, and they are worth keeping for the evening when a conversation is going somewhere and you would rather not stop.

If you hit the limit and it feels wrong — too tight, too slow, wrong in a way we have not thought of — tell us. It is a number in a table, and it is meant to be the number that nobody notices.
